Privacy policy
This document descibes the Donor Privacy Policy of the association Wikimedia CH. This policy may be updated by the board from time to time.
Collection of personal information
Wikimedia CH collects and uses various personal information from donors that includes: amount donated, address, donor comments and e-mail address. Donors are not required to provide these information; they remain free to make an anonymous donation at any Swiss post office using a payment slip.
Use of personal information
Wikimedia CH will never publish, use, or share with anyone personal information from donors, except for the following purposes only:
- distribute receipts for donations and thank donors
- inform donors about upcoming fundraising and other activities or information about the association
- internal analysis and record keeping
- to fulfill legal requirements, in particular with regards to tax agencies.
However, properly anonymized donor information can be used for promotional and fundraising activities. Comments provided by donors can be published anonymously and be used in promotional material. The author of the comment will be published only he is has explicitely agreed to it.
In any case, personal information from donors can not be used in a manner not consistent with the Swiss Data Protection Act.
Financial information
All access to donor financial information is strictly limited to board members who need to process this data, or to people explicitely approved by the board for this task. No such data are given to any person, organization or group who does not need to access those data.
Donations made by credit card may be processed through Global Collect, a US company. As such, the information related to your donations may be transmitted to the USA.

Wikimedia CH has no control over the Wikipedia web site, nor over any other web site managed by the Wikimedia Foundation. If you have questions or complaints with regards to the use of your personal information on these sites, you must use the contact information that is provided by these web sites.
